Ringing bell ban for the single-use plastic products

Single-use plastics voted to be banned by European Parliament!

This ban affected plastic cutlery and plates, cotton buds, straws, drink-stirrers and balloon sticks. Plastic
products take a long time to biodegrade and it takes on average around 450 years. This ban was raised
because of the polluting seas and oceans.

What did the European Commission propose?

1. Reduce the use of plastic food containers. The ones used for take-away, and cups for beverages.
2. Producers will help cover the costs of waste management and cleanup as well as raise awareness of the
   polluting impacts of tobacco products with filters (such as cigarette butts), wet wipes, balloons, plastic
   bags and candy and potato chip wrappers.
3. Member states should use a deposit refund scheme or any other measure to collect 90 percent of single-use
   plastic bottles by 2025.
4. Menstrual pads, wet wipes and balloons will be required to add a label indicating how to dispose of the
   product properly.
5. Member states should raise awareness about the dangers of single-use plastic items.
6. Producers of plastic fishing gear will be required to cover the costs of waste collection in ports.
   

If we think about the problems that are caused due to the plastic pollution then it becomes easier to understand
why such ban is appropriate to take place and had been brought by the European Parliament. Most plastic
waste ends up in the seas and oceans that causes threats to the birds, fish and other marine animals because
they accidently eat it while in search for the food or simply get caught in it.

We need to seriously think about that problem as some plastic waste takes up to 450 years to decompose meaning
that the ammount is only going to grow day-by-day and going to pollute our environmnet more and more.

The solution to this problem is simple: use reusable plastic products. For example instead of using a single-use
